County Administration

The county administrator is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners. The county administrator is the chief administrative officer of the county and all executive responsibilities and powers are assigned to and vested in him.  The county administrator shall exercise all authority provided by powers and duties set forth by general or special law.

It is the responsibility of the county administrator to implement all decisions, policies, programs and motions made by the board. This is done through the bureau chiefs and administrative personnel who report directly to the county administrator.  There are six bureaus plus the Public Information Office and the Office of Transportation /Traffic under the direction of the county administrator.

The county administrator's office also recommends an annual county operating and capital improvement budget to the board and coordinates the Board of County Commissioner's meetings, agendas and workshops.
