The following road closures have been announced recently:
Avery Street – Avery Street from Pace Boulevard to “J” Street will be closed to all except local traffic beginning Monday, October 8 due to a drainage project. The detour will be Lakeview Avenue. 72nd Avenue near Lago Vista Court – 72nd Avenue near Lago Vista Court will experience short term closures beginning October 9 at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to accommodate a drainage project in the area. Nine Mile Road at CSX railroad crossing - As part of the resurfacing project on U.S. 90A (Nine Mile Road) between Pine Cone Drive and the Escambia River Bridge, crews from CSX will replace a railroad crossing. U.S. 90 will be closed at the CSX railroad between Old Palafox and County Road 749 (Chemstrand Road) in Escambia County from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 through 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15. East and westbound traffic will be detoured using the following route: Chemstrand Road, East Ten Mile Road, and U.S. 29. Panhandle Grading & Paving began work on the 8.4-mile section of State Road 10/ U.S. 90/90A (Nine Mile Road) in June 2012. Improvements include resurfacing the roadway, Americans with Disabilities Act and sidewalk upgrades, guardrail and safety improvements, minor drainage improvements, and bridge joint repair. To decrease delays and traffic congestion, any work which may require lane restrictions will take place at night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Jernigan Road - Jernigan Road between JoJo Road and Johnson Avenue will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning October 16 for approximately the next 30 days in support of road construction projects in the area.
