The
Division of Human Assistance is comprised of multiple grant-funded
programs geared toward the development and enhancement of
employability skills training and job placement of eligible
program participants in an effort to reduce dependency and
promote self-sufficiency.
Participants
acquire viable work skills such as:
- Maintaining regular attendance
at work
- Learning to follow instructions
- Time management
- Developing initiative in the
workplace
- Getting along with co-workers
and supervisors
- Managing work and family life
These efforts enhance prospect of successful and long-term
employment. Some programs provide support services, for a
specified period, to assist participants acquire or resume
employment.
Often
participants experience barriers, such as environmental,
financial, personal, medical or educational, which create
obstructions that could hinder progression or success
in gaining or maintaining employment. The program staff
considers these factors and provides the participant
with an opportunity to identify and seek assistance through
referrals to area agencies.
NON-CUSTODIAL
PARENT PLACEMENT PROGRAM (NCPPP)
The
Non-Custodial Parent Placement Program is a job development
and training program to assist the non-custodial parent with
employment opportunities to reduce the dependency of his or her
children who receive public assistance benefits. Serving eligible
participants referred by Florida Department of Revenue (Child
Support Enforcement), Workforce Escarosa, Inc., and through
public advertisements.
The
purpose of the program is to assist non-custodial parents
in gaining economic self-sufficiency and meeting their child
support obligations by attaining and maintaining meaningful
employment. In an effort to meet this goal, NCPPP works with
the Escambia and Santa Rosa courts, and the Florida Department
of Revenue/Child Support Enforcement. The program has been
successful in assisting participants who may have a criminal
conviction, minimal education, unstable work history, suspended
drivers’ licenses, and various other obstacles to employment.
The program offers support services in the way of transportation
assistance, counseling, job search and job placement services,
incentive pay for continuing education programs, as well as
work clothes, and tools needed for employment.
