Under
the direction of the County Surveyor, Rick Colocado, PSM, the Surveying/Mapping
Division provides other County Departments with precise
boundary, right-of-way, and historical survey data.
It is responsible for maintenance of the HARN (High
Accuracy Regional Network) on which the County's G.I.S
(Geographical Information System) is based.
Field crews
using modern mapping equipment support many County
Departments providing precise location data for such
diverse programs as Code Enforcement, Environmental
Services, Facilities Management, and the Road Department.
Drafting services include the production of certified
boundary surveys, legal descriptions, and Base Maps
as needed for right-of-way acquisitions, County property
disposition, and design projects. Mapping's
G.I.S. section provides data analysis and mapping
services to the County Engineer and to other Divisions
within the Engineering Department.
The County
Surveyor reviews surveys of Coastal Properties and
Final Subdivision Plats for consistency with Chapter
177 Florida Statutes, and the Escambia County Land
Development code. The County Surveyor works
closely with the County Attorney in resolving boundary
disputes, providing professional commentary and testimony
on land boundary practices and interpreting legal
descriptions. |
