Repetitive Loss Properties

What is a Repetitive Loss Property?

Properties that have had two or more claims of more than $1,000 paid by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) within any 10-year period since 1978. Although some of these properties have had mitigation measures applied to them, most remain at risk of flooding.

You received notice that your building is a Repetitive Loss Property, what do you do now?

Does the structure that experienced the repetitive flood claims still exist?

  • Was the structure destroyed by the Hurricane Ivan or Dennis?
  • Has the structure been demolished?
  • Has the structure has been elevated?

If yes, please call our office at 595-1144 or email Tim Day so that we can update our records.

For all of the remaining structures, mitigation of the property is encouraged.  There are various Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant Programs each year that you might want to consider.

We are working to schedule an informational meeting in early 2009, for all interested Repetitive Loss Property Owners.

If you are interested in attending this meeting please call 595-3635 or e-mail Tamara Hansen to let us know you are interested.
