Permit Application Checklist

The following items are required to obtain a Solid Waste Management Permit and/or a Non-Exclusive Franchise agreement. Informational links are provided in the Details column, while following the appropriate links in the Item column will enable the downloading of the forms that are necessary.

1.

Application for Certificate of Need

Complete and execute. This application is required to accurately reflect the company's legal name, address and ownership.

2.

Application for a Solid Waste Management Permit

Complete and execute. A list of company trucks and equipment, company location and other pertinent data must be included.

3.

Corporate Information Sheet

Complete and return with your application packet.

4.

Copy of Escambia County Local Business Tax Receipt

Information regarding Local Business Tax Receipt may be obtained from the Escambia County Tax Collector's Office ,

5.

Letter of Request

Submit a letter requesting a Certificate of Need and a Solid Waste Management Permit. The letter must state your company's type of operation and include your Federal Identification Number.

6.

Permit Application Fee

Enclose a check for the $150.00 Permit Application Fee payable to the Board of County Commissioners.

7.

Original Certificate of Insurance

The Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a list of insurance policies and coverages, including Workers' Compensation coverage. Note that the Board of County Commissioners must be listed as Additional Insured and the COI must include 30 days written notice of cancellation on the certificate. 8.

Determine if a Non- Exclusive Long Term Franchise Agreement applies to your solid waste management activity

Contact our office if Escambia County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 82, Article IV, Section 82-132 applies to your business. *Please see the note below

* Please note : Escambia County's respective insurance requirements for Permits and Franchises are very specific. Insurance requirements for Franchises are contained in Section 29 of the Franchise agreement. Failure to submit a compliant and accurate Certificate of Insurance in a timely manner will cause unnecessary delays in the permitting process.
