Yard Trash

"Yard Trash" is vegetative matter resulting from landscaping maintenance or land-clearing operations and includes materials such as tree and shrub trimmings, grass clippings, palm fronds, trees, and tree stumps.

"Correct procedure for putting yard waste on side of road."

In accordance with state regulations, this material must be handled separately from other residential or commercial waste.  Clean yard trash includes vegetative matter only. Citizens should never mix yard trash with regular garbage.

In addition, the Department of Solid Waste Management prefers that citizens not use plastic bags.  Instead use a separate container, a compostable bag, or set it curbside.

Clean yard trash is processed into beneficial reuse material that is used in landfill operations for slope stabilization or for initial cover over the waste on a daily basis.

When quanities are available, it is also used for alternate boiler fuel.

Free Mulch for Escambia County Residents

Clean yard waste, material with no plastic bags, is mulched and given to the public free of charge.  Citizens can come to the Perdido Landfill and are responsible for shoveling and loading the mulch, and for tarping their own vehicle.
