Mission Statement


The Escambia County Jail and its employees are dedicated to public service and the care, custody and control of the inmates detained. All inmates are treated with fairness and respect, with the primary goal of maintaining a safe, humane and secure environment for both inmates and staff while overseeing food services, inmate laundry and facility maintenance. In addition, the jail supports former inmates in their attempts to reintegrate into the community by providing programs that will promote a positive attitude and encourage behavioral changes.

FY 2015-2016 Accomplishments

  • Escambia County Corrections passed accreditation for the fourth time by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, meeting 243 standards established by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission. These standards are recognized as best practices in the corrections community and exceed the standards established through the Florida Model Jail Standards.
  • Jail medical was restructured, and Dr. Paul Henning was appointed as the Medical Director for Corrections.
  • The annual Florida Model Jail inspection was conducted in August 2016 and the annual Florida Model Jail Medical Inspection was conducted in September 2016, both with successful results.
  • Escambia County Jail continued recruiting efforts and placed 18 students through the corrections academy at George Stone Vocational Academy.
  • Booking renovations were completed, and the new booking area became operational.
  • Jail staff continued to work with the county's design criteria professional on the new corrections facility.
