Mission Statement


The Escambia County Office of Community and Media Relations proactively facilitates the accurate, effective, timely and consistent flow of public information to internal and external parties, while also providing community outreach and serving as the county’s liaison with its media partners. The office provides services to enhance the relationship between Escambia County government, its citizens and the media through positive public and media relations.

FY 2017-2018 Accomplishments


  • Distributed over 690 news releases to provide local citizens and media with consistent, up-to-date information on county activities, seasonal safety campaigns, policies and programs.
  • Continued to advance the content and consistently offer new information on the county's website, making over 4,000 updates to the site. The site saw a nine percent increase in page visits and 14 percent increase in visitors in FY 2017-18 over the previous year.
  • Ensured the flow of up-to-date information during crisis events such as inclement weather was available to residents and the media.
  • Responded to over 880 local, state and national media requests on topics including EMS and fire response, commission agenda items, staff changes, the budget, animal control, county jail mug shots, road projects and more.
  • Maintained the county’s social media accounts, growing the following by 60 percent and posting over 4,000 times, an 18 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.
  • Coordinated or assisted with county-wide special events, including ribbon-cutting ceremonies, park openings, groundbreakings and community meetings.
  • Created more than 275 design products ranging from business cards, flyers, brochures and signage to annual reports and preparedness guides.
  • Scripted, filmed and edited over 135 informational videos for the web and TV.
  • Broadcasted 105 county commission meetings, workshops and special forums live on ECTV, which can be found on channel 98 for Bright House, Cox Cable and Mediacom (Pensacola Beach) subscribers and channel 99 for AT&T U-verse subscribers. Meetings are also available on MyEscambia.com on demand.
  • Administered  "Ask MyEscambia," a desktop and mobile citizen request system connecting residents to county departments. In fiscal year 2017-19, residents contacted county staff 6,407 via the application. CMR staff answered over 200 resident questions directly. 
  • Oversaw the completion of a two-building digital migration upgrade project. The project included installing full HD online capability and adding the ability to stream and broadcast from the Central Office Complex for public viewing of planning board and board of adjustment meetings. The project also moved ECTV to channel 4/1004 on Cox for a merger with WUWF.
