Mission Statement


Risk Management is responsible for protecting the county’s assets and preserving operational continuity from risks and safety hazards that may arise from activities/events that may affect the county.  Our goal is to minimize compensable exposure through risk identification and analysis, risk avoidance, risk control and risk financing.

FY 2017-2018 Accomplishments

  • Performed over 38 classroom hours in safety training (including defensive driving, heat stress, work zone traffic safety, office safety/ergonomics, and more). Attendance for all classes totaled 418.
  • Minimized lost time expenses by placing 54 injured employees in temporary duty positions.
  • Investigated 187 general liability claims and 135 accidents. 
  • Held one Incident Review Board meeting, and reviewed three incidents. 
  • Conducted eight fire drills. 
  • Inspected 110 county facilities and 95 parks.
  • Performed 21 pre-purchase inspections on property acquired by the county. 
  • Performed seven indoor air quality tests.
  • Reviewed 337 certificates of insurance and 52 agreements/contracts.
  • Processed 93 general liability claims and 258 workers’ compensation claims.
  • Recovered $42,758 in funds due to the county as a result of damage to county property. Recovered an additional amount of $516,000 as an insurance advance for a water damage claim.
  • The Employee Hearing Conservation Program tested 250 employees.
