FY 2015-2016 Accomplishments

The Neighborhood & Human Services Department oversees the Escambia County Community Redevelopment Agency, the Safe Neighborhood Program, Neighborhood Enterprise Division, various community centers and community resource centers, and the Indigent Burial Program, the Job Readiness Program, as well as afterschool care programs and summer youth camps.  These divisions and programs help and serve more than 310,000 residents and businesses within Escambia County.

The department hosted its second Escambia Cares Community Resource Expo. The community resource expos were created as a mechanism for facilitating citizen access to local services provided by community partner organizations within Escambia County. This year’s theme was Hurricane Preparedness.

The Escambia Cares Community Resource Expo provided a “one-stop shop” approach to community service outreach in order to improve citizen access to local resources while maximizing agency collaboration and impact. The events were held at both Brownsville Community Center and C.A. Weis Elementary School. Over 55 community partners attended offering valuable resources and services including employment opportunities, health care services, educational opportunities, affordable housing and more. Over 300 citizens attended this event receiving invaluable information.
